Deciding on your next vehicle can be tricky. There are plenty of decisions to make when you buy a car, like whether to purchase new or used. With the average price of a new vehicle at over $36,000, buying a brand-new model can cost a pretty penny. On the other hand, you may be hesitant to buy a used vehicle because you could end up with someone else’s problems. Luckily, manufacturers offer a middle road with certified pre-owned vehicles.
Certified pre-owned cars, trucks, SUVs, and minivans usually cost more than uncertified used models, but less than brand-new models. A CPO vehicle will give you more peace of mind than an uncertified used model. Car manufacturers put CPO vehicles through multipoint inspections. Most brands require CPO vehicles to be less than five or six years old and have less than 60,000 to 80,000 miles. Not all automakers offer the same benefits. Some of the best perks include a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty, rental car reimbursement, roadside assistance, and free scheduled maintenance for a period of time. Every month, automakers advertise used car specials that consist mostly of financing incentives on CPO vehicles. Through car dealers, manufacturers offer interest rates that are usually lower than the national average rate. A lower rate reduces the overall cost for you, the buyer, as do other factors like your trade-in or exclusive dealership incentives.
This month, the best car deals on CPO vehicles give you a 0.9 percent interest rate. These deals come mostly from luxury brands like BMW, Jaguar, and Land Rover. Mazda is the exception; it’s offering 0.9 percent financing for three years on select certified pre-owned 2014, 2015, and 2016 models.
If you need a longer loan term, this month’s CPO deals have you covered on some of the best used cars. The Toyota Camry and Camry Hybrid are available with 1.9 percent interest for five years. This is a great deal because it gives you a longer term than most brands offer at this interest rate. Those looking for a used SUV are in luck as well. You can secure a 2.9 percent interest rate for five years on SUVs from brands like Cadillac, Ford, and Lexus. Ford ups to ante by offering $750 to owners of non-Ford Motor Company vehicles.
